Accutech Security Solutions announced a new style of resident wrist strap for its ResidentGuard wander management system. The bands, which are worn by residents with wandering tendencies, are more modern and less institutional than anything on the market.

Wander-prone residents wear bandsNew “wander wearable” band with monitoring tags to track movements and prevent dangerous elopement events. Accutech has received countless requests from communities for bands that are less institutional to preserve each resident’s dignity. The new bands are sleeker, more comfortable and look similar to a personal fitness band.

Accutech Sales & Marketing Director Chris Konicek said, “The market has been calling for a less institutional band for years, so we’re excited to make this necessary and obvious improvement. Resident dignity is paramount and we believe this is one of the greatest steps taken to improve the perception of ‘wander management bands’ in the market. We hold the philosophy that existing customers should not be left behind as we advance our solutions, so it was important that we were able to include all existing and future customers in this development. We look forward to continuing to develop this technology and plan on phasing in additional functionalities.”

ResidentGuard is a security solution for healthcare facilities with wander-prone residents. 60% of residents with Alzheimer’s/dementia will wander, creating a safety risk for the resident and the facility. ResidentGuard provides a secure environment for all residents, using security features such as access control, floor plan monitoring and alarms to alert staff when a resident has entered a restricted area or left the building.
